1. Of all the wood used for windows and doors by our company, 99 percent comes from North America, where we see an annual net increase in forest land coverage. Only one percent comes from other regions.
  2. To make full use of every bit of timber and avoid waste, we employ advanced manufacturing, engineering and technological techniques. Better yield from the available lumber means fewer trees need to be harvested.
  3. We offer to work with organizations that share our goal of sustainable tropical forests, including the Tropical Forest Foundation, the Rainforest Alliance and others. We wish to cooperate in a system with independent, third-party verification of legal, certified lumber supplies.
  4. These tropical wood values fit within the company’s environmental policy: “The environmental goals of the Marvin family of companies are to meet or exceed applicable environmental laws and regulations and to protect our environment. This commitment is fulfilled by incorporating environmental priorities into the design of products, services and facilities, and by minimizing the environmental impact during the production of products and manufacturing operations. It is our priority to continually improve in pollution prevention, waste management and recycling, and to educate employees, communities and customers on responsible environmental practices.”
  5. Responsible, sustainable management of tropical forests has a vast array of benefits. Preservation of tropical forests; Jobs and economic development for local economies; Environmental benefits by slowing the conversion of rainforests to agriculture; and High-quality window and door products available for purchase, made from a renewable resource.
  6. It is important to remember that wood is a versatile and beautiful material that is easy to use. Wood is non-toxic and recyclable. It is light, yet strong and easily shaped. It offers good sound absorption properties and can be used as a biofuel at the end of its product life. It is our only truly sustainable resource for construction purposes. It is also a natural insulator and, as such, it reduces the energy needed for heating. Reforestation and sustainable forestry practices reduce the effect of global warming as trees naturally soak up carbon dioxide
