Recycling and Waste Reduction Efforts
Wood
Marvins wood utilization factor in the rip and cut process is one of the highest in the industry.
Improved finger-jointing and edge gluing, along with additional research, have increased the amount of wood that can be used in finished products.
Approximately 8,500 tons of packaging and logging waste are recycled annually. It powers the boiler, heats the plant, saves energy and reduces landfill waste.
14,000 tons of wood shavings are sold annually for animal bedding.
Cardboard and Paper
An estimated 300 tons of cardboard and 90 tons of paper are recycled yearly.
Plastic
Many types of plastic, including stretch wrap and shrink wrap, are recycled; approximately 100 tons per year.
Solvents and Paints
A carbon absorption process enables thousands of gallons of solvent from our wood preservation process to be recycled.
Waste paints are recycled through a licensed fuel blending operation.
Factory-priming and painting products keeps waste paints in the factory where theyll be properly recycled.
